ANNUAL CRITICAL PATH
A summary of the activities for running the swim team:
In February, the Board of Directors should meet for the "Spring Meeting" to discuss the strategy of how the Stingrays will be run. At this time, a coach needs to be selected if the coach from the prior year will not be coaching again. Planning should include information for the coming year’s registration.
In March, GKAISA holds its Spring and Scheduling meetings. Coaches and Swim Team GKAISA Representatives from each of the teams attend and schedule the meets for the upcoming season.
Once the schedule is set and approved by GKAISA, the ribbon director needs to determine how many ribbons are needed for all home meets. The home team is responsible for supplying enough ribbons for each event and heats per event for the visiting team. The order for the ribbons should be placed by May 1 of the swim year.
In March, the registration needs to be made available to the swim families via email and the website.
In May, the Stingrays are preparing for the first swim practices. Evaluations for new swimmers 10 and under take place before the first practice. The first practice is typically the day after Memorial Day. These practices are divided into age groups/experience. These practices typically are Monday thru Friday in the mornings. Head Coach determines practices for each swim year. Once the Stingrays have practiced for a week or two, typically its time for the first meet. Whether it’s at home or away, there is a lot of preparation needed that requires parental involvement.
In November or December, is the Annual Sugarwood Stingray meeting. At this meeting the SWSR Board gives their Director's report and Treasure's Report. New Board of Director candidates for the next year are nominated and voted on at this time.
