As coach of Sugarwood and a former Stingray, I am so excited to lead the Sugarwood Stingrays in an amazing season this summer! Last summer, I finished my fourth and senior year of swimming with the Stingrays, and am thrilled to be returning as coach this year!
I have continued swimming at the University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK), where I am an active member of the VOLS Swim Club. Off the deck, I am entering my junior year at UTK, where I am pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering with a minor in Engineering Management. I also balance college with my work as an Accounts Payable Administrator at Vanguard Maintenance and Electrical.
I love Sugarwood so much and am so grateful for the time spent under Coach Jodi and her continued mentorship. I can’t wait to see everyone back at Sugarwood for another incredible season and fun summer with the Stingrays!
| Hi, my name is Jackson Kuhn and this is my 10th year with the Stingrays. I’m looking forward to joining the coaching staff this season! In addition to swimming, I enjoy playing the guitar, hanging out with friends, and playing water polo. I love coaching and seeing all ages of SWSR swimmers grow in their skills and most importantly as a team. |
Currently a full time wife and mother to 4 kids, along with my husband, we own and run our family business, Vineyard Turf. As a previous high school and college swimmer, I love being a Coach for the Sugarwood Stingrays. As a family, we balance a lot of fun and excitement doing all these activities together.
As a High School State Champion and All American, I continued my athletic and academic career in college when I accepted a swimming scholarship to Florida State University. While at FSU, I focused on sprint free, backstroke, and Individual Medley, breaking the records in the 100 back, 200 back, 200 IM, and the Medley Relay, which also broke the ACC Meet record. I was a 6 time/event ACC Champion and qualified for and competed at NCAA Championships every year while at FSU.
After closely missing the 96 Olympic Trials, due to a fractured tibia, I took a break from swim and transferred to Covenant College, to be with my brother and sister, and accepted a basketball scholarship there. Though the move was supposed to be temporary, I loved being with my family and the break from the pressure was a welcome change. During this time, God opened my eyes to a world outside of swimming. I ended up staying and graduating from Covenant, with a degree in Sociology and Counseling.
Shortly after college I got married, and together we started our family. Together with my husband, Kevin of 23 years, we have 4 children: Jackson (21), Luke (16), Kate (13), and Sam (12). God has blessed me to allow me to use my previous experiences, both in and out of the pool, to help and coach. I have coached in some capacity for over 20 years, both in private and individual lessons, and large teams. This will be the 14th year our family has been with the Stingrays, and we look forward to being with each of you again!
Annelise has been part of the Stingrays for 4 years and is so thrilled to be back this season! She is a senior in high school and swims for Tennessee Aquatics and Hardin Valley Academy. Swimming is Annelise’s passion and she is looking forward to working with all the swimmers this season both in and out of the pool. Off the deck she loves working out and hanging out with friends. Summer with the Stingrays is her favorite part of the year and she is so excited for everything that is in store for the team this season!
Cassidy is in her third year of high school and has been part of the Stingrays for 4 years. Besides that she is a part of the Hardin Valley Academy swim team and also swims year round for Tennessee Aquatics.
She loves everything swimming whether it be on deck or in the pool and looks forward to the Stingray season every year! Outside of the pool she enjoys working out, hanging out with friends, and going to the mountains.
Cassidy is looking forward to coaching this season and can't wait to see the kiddos grow both individually and as a team.
Liam Saffles has been a part of the Sugarwood Stingrays for 6 years and began volunteering as a coach in 2025. He was an USA swimmer for 2 years with Atomic City Aquatic Club (ACAC) and a current lifeguard at Sugarwood. As a result, he has CPR and First Aid certifications as well as impactful knowledge on all four swim strokes. He has coached all levels and ages of swimmers with dedication and patience. He wants to help all swimmers improve in a safe and supportive manner while having a fun time.
