    practice schedule

Good afternoon all, Just wanted to touch base about a few things regarding practice....

First of all, PLEASE help your swimmer remember their water bottle!  Very few swimmers are bringing them and it's getting hot and they are getting a good workout in!  We don't want them getting sick or dehydrated.

Second of all, when the schedule was set years ago, it was based on what we thought best at that time.  Over the last few years, our team has changed, as expected, and our larger groups have somewhat shifted.  Based on this year's registration, we weren't exactly sure how we would end up.  At this point, we have continued to add and move swimmers as best able.  This week, we temporarily and flexibly tried a few minor modifications to see how they would work.  As coaches, we felt these slight adjustments best serve the team for this season, at this point. Every year there are fluctuations within each age group, and within the strengths of each group.  We try our best to reach every swimmer where they are and help them progress the most.  We are getting a lot of technique work and training in daily.  The MOST important time we can have with each swimmer is as much time in the pool as possible.  With this being said, this is where we've landed after this week.  Please know that if the extra 5-10 minutes adds stress to your schedule, let us know and we can work with you!  However, these new modifications WILL help your child have better use of every practice time they come to. If the 5 min earlier start time for 9-10 group affects you tremendously, and you can only be there at 7:30, that is fine!  Again, they are getting more time in the pool this way.  Many of our swimmers are already there so we wanted to use that time to start.  Your swimmer can join us at 7:30 AND we can assure you, their time will be better spent well, adding in extra pool time.  So, here is our best solution:

    9-10's: 7:25-7:35 drylands, 7:35-8:30 swim                                                                              8& U: 8:20-8:30 drylands; 8:30-9:25 swim                                                                                11-14's: 9:10-9:25 drylands; 9:25-10:25 swim                                                                          15 & Up: 10:10-10:25 drylands; 10:25-11:30 swim                                                                  Little Ray: 11:30-12:55 swim

We may slightly modify from day to day, if one group happens to have had an extra hard workout and finish a few minutes early, we may let the next group in.  We know how to adjust and accommodate and will do so as needed.  Each day is different and each swimmer is different.  Different meets and different strengths lend themselves to modifications as needed.

Thank you for understanding and trusting us with your children!

Coach Jodi, Jacob, Margaret, and Eddie
