SWSR 2020 Update and Pre-Registration
Good evening Stingrays! Here we are, in the middle of the week that we'd normally be doing drylands with our swimmers. Sad to think about, but this is hopefully one season that will just look a little different. We'll get through it, coach your kids the best we can, have fun, get stronger and faster, and prepare for school year swimming or next summer, which will hopefully look like it has in the past.
Chet has shared a lot of info with you all, and while we still have a few hurdles to jump through with gov't/county/health officials, and then our Sugarwood HOA, we have come up with our proposed practice plan so you'll have a little more of an idea of what to expect, hope and pray for this summer! Here is what we are thinking...and this is all TENTATIVE at this point, but we all know that even though we don't have tons going on these days, we all need a little bit of a plan!
So, we are looking at 5 days a week to swim...
Mon-Fri:
9-10's: 7:15-7:30 drylands; 7:30-8:10 swim
8 & Under: 8-8:15 drylands; 8:15-8:40 swim
11-12: 8:30-8:45 drylands; 8:45-9:30 swim
13-14: 9:15-9:35 drylands; 9:35-10:25 swim
15-18: 10-10:30 drylands; 10:30-11:30 swim
11:30-11:40: total pool/restroom cleaning/remove lane ropes and all swimmers must exit the pool gates and be picked up by 11:40.
Each of these practice times allow for 5 minutes between each age group. Hopefully, as we progress through the season, and things loosen up a bit, we plan to close that gap if possible and utilize more pool time, but there are no guarantees of how and when that will work.
As we get closer to start time, we will be explaining complete details about where to meet for drylands, what to do about stuff/gear, entrance/exits, parent volunteer for practices, restrooms, etc.
We also need you to be realistic about safety and your swimmers ability to listen and follow instructions the first time. We want to have as many swimmers as possible, but we will have a zero tolerance policy for those unable to follow instructions. With safety and health on the line, we will clearly explain expectations and if your swimmer isn't able to follow them, they will be asked to sit out that practice. We are all working together as a team and will not compromise each other's health or safety. For this reason, we may also make some of the age groups smaller than others.
What we REALLY want you to know is that we are completely committed to giving our swimmers the most this summer. We will follow all safety and health guidelines but we can still make great progress in the pool. We had already planned that since we are moving into league 1 this summer that we are focusing on personal growth, team unity, and spend more time on technique and training, rather than just winning meets. So, this will be a great, low pressure way to train and have fun as a team. We'll also have a lower swimmer to coach ratio, which will be advantageous to our swimmers as well.
Remember, we will be capping age groups this summer. Some of our age groups are filling up, especially our boys groups. If you would like to swim, please fill out this link below as soon as you know. If you don't plan to return, we'll miss you, but please go ahead and fill out the form with a "no" response so we can move down the list and be sure to fill your spot.
