Health
Good afternoon families! Just want to address a few health related issues and concerns. The board has been fielding some various health questions. At this time, if you/your swimmer feels/looks anything other than completely healthy, we need to ask that they not swim that day, or possibly longer if needed.
While we definitely don't know the scope of all the symptoms, we do know COVID is very contagious. We are doing our best to keep our team healthy and continuing. There are studies showing various symptoms can be present in children who've been exposed to COVID-19. So, if a swimmer has a rash, cough, any stomach issues including upset stomach, vomitting, diarrhea, headache, fever, or experiencing any flu-like symptoms, shortness of breath, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion, or anything unusual and not completely healthy, we will ask them to go home. Please be proactive and not bring them if you suspect any of these might be occurring. Better to miss a few days to be sure than to risk spreading any potential infections.
This seems tough and we don't like it any more than you do, but we must consider the good of the group and the health of all our families. We are asking you to please talk honestly with your children about this before they come. If you know they've not felt well, please do not drop them off. Please don't encourage them to come, tell them they need to stay home. These are strange and unusual times, but we must be diligent and careful.
Please be aware that coaches and board members have the full ability to ask a swimmer to sit out that day/the following day if anything causes concern before, during, or after a practice. We will err on the side of an over abundance of caution, but again, the overall, long term health of every athlete must be considered.
Thank you for understanding and for your support in this sensitive matter,
Coach Jodi
