Coaches
Good evening Stingray Nation! I think we are about complete with most of our details, so I wanted to take a minute for some introductions and explanations...and yes, firming up the practice schedule is next and will be to you ASAP..
A little about our Coaching Staff: I am returning as Head Coach for the Stingrays. Our family has been with the Stingrays for 11 years now, and I've been head coach for most of them, but took a few years off to focus on some family time. I was a collegiate swimmer at FSU a few years ago ;) and miss swimming myself, but certainly love the coaching side of things. We have a family business, Vineyard Turf, which I help run along with my husband Kevin (he does the "work" ;) and we have 4 children, 3 of which swim with us. I love being involved with our swimmers and families and hope and pray that we can touch each swimmer's life in a positive way, both in and out of the pool. We want everyone here to feel welcome, encouraged, important, and make new friends and get better at swimming.
Coach Margaret Stansberry is our First Assistant, and my right hand girl, and this is her 5th summer with us. Margaret swam for Carson Newman, and is now a teacher at Cedar Bluff Elementary. Margaret was an incredible swimmer who now shares her experience, excellence, and passion with our team.
Coach Gabby Maine is our swimmer assistant and this is her 2nd season coaching. It's hard to think Gabby is a senior this year because she leads our team with such grace, kindness, love, and patience we forget she's still a swimmer herself. Gabby has swam with the Stingrays for 13 years this summer, and is graduating from FHS this year and will go on to college at UTK this fall.
Coach Catherine Brown is our new addition, though many of our younger swimmers will remember her! She helped out last summer while she was still swimming, out of love for our youngest of Stingrays and love for this sport. Coach Catherine will primarily focus on our 10 & U groups, with some help for our our 11-14 technical group. We are excited to have Coach Catherine in a more official coaching capacity this summer!
And last but certainly not least is Coach Braden Peeke, who we all love. Coach Braden coached full time last summer, but because he's studying so much this year, he's going to be helping us out part time as he is able. Braden brings such fun and great leadership to all our age groups, we are thankful to get him back this summer for as much as he can do!
We are all here for all of your swimmers! We are all very different, but that benefits everyone because we get to use a larger variety of strengths as we do our best to lead your swimmers. We are so thankful for each Coach and what they bring. When last summer's season ended, I began praying for each swimmer and Coach that we would get to be with this summer, and I am so thankful that we have such a great group of Coaches to work with such an amazing group of swimmers and their families!
Thank you all and see you very soon!
Coach Jodi
