SMI need to know
Stingray Families attending SMI,
There are two maps attached to this email. One is a map of the pool setup and where the SWSR tent will be. Utilize this so that when you park you can find the SWSR tent. The other map is a street view of the area. Marked on there is where you should park and what gate you should use for entering. Faraday Street is the street you will want to enter on. There is some street parking available as well. The stingray banner will be hanging proudly at the team tent location, which will be another way of finding the team. Springbrook pool is in Maryville.
The pool address is:
636 Vose Road, Alcoa, TN 37701

USA is the theme for our team and coaches tents. The tent will be decorated for the theme and we will need pictures of all our HEAT WINNERS with the ribbon and the classic RAYsombrero.
Be early or be on time! Even though the meet is all day that does not mean it goes slow. They move a lot of swimmers through the water pretty quickly so it would be unfortunate if you miss one of your swimmer’s events because you thought they had a High event number. Do NOT pay attention to event numbers because they are over two days of events. Day 2 (Sunday)starts with event 53 for the 8 and under IM as an example.
What to bring (parents)...chair(s), blanket, cooler, drinks (more water than you think), food, sunscreen, SHARPIE, and patience with a smile.
What to bring (swimmers)... suit, googles, swim cap, towel, t-shirt, shorts, backpack, games, theme stuff, and RAYSPEED.
When you arrive to the tent, please organize yourselves in neat rows the best you are able. We have more swimmers than ever this year and it may get “cozy” at times under there. Haha!
See the email from Natalie regarding worker positions. There are still come positions available. The SMI staff is grateful to our team for being willing to help where needed. They have thanked our team several times, so thank you for volunteering. We have an awesome team, parents included!
Tech suits are allowed. 12 & under swimmers need to have a FINA approved suit for that age. 13 & up can wear any tech suit. Tech suits are optional. Our team suit and any other competition style suit is completely acceptable. If you have further questions on this you can contact Coach Jodi. A list of 12 & under approved tech suits can be found here: https://www.usaswimming.org/docs/default-source/r...
There is a recreational pool with a slide attached to the competition pool. Wristbands are available for purchase for athletes that are not competing that day.
Top three finishers in each event are given a medal in a ceremony at the end of the day, each day.
In the event of a rain delay, DO NOT leave the general area. You may huddle under the tents or return to your cars but please do not leave the area. We will be in contact via remind to get information out when it is safe to return to the pool deck.
Any questions or uncertainty please call or email and I will be glad to help you.
RAYS IN THE WATER!!!
