Sugarwood Stingrays - City Meet Parents

Each year GKAISA assigns TEAM worker positions at City Meet.  Unfortunately this year we are having to fill more worker positions than in past years.  Every parent will need to fill a shift, I tried to make sure your worker position was in the pool that your swimmer will be in for that day.  This year SWSR is required to provide TWO workers per SHIFT to time/scribe LANE 4 of the GIRLS pool and two workers per shift to help in the BOYS clerk of course.  GKAISA hands out wrist bands for each Shift Worker at the beginning of each Shift.  So unlike SMI were I rotate everyone out every 45 minutes, GKAISA regulates what I can and can not do more stringently.  EACH Day will have 3 Shifts as follows

    • SHIFT 1 - 9am - 11am
    • SHIFT 2 - 11am - 1pm
    • SHIFT 3 - 1pm - 3pm

This year I had to assign shift and workers due to the minimal number of families we have  at city meet this year and multiple families have swimmers on each day.

    • Friday is 11 and up swimmers
    • Saturday is 10 and under swimmers

ATTACHED is the worker assignments that I will be posting in the team tent.

Any Specialty Workers that are working City Meet please also let me know so I can make sure you are recognized by SWSR and THANK YOU.

Parking is like years past with the SHUTTLE.

TEAM TENT is as last year in the Grassy Circle on the east side of the Student Aquatic Center.  look for the team banner.

Friday and Saturday warm-ups are at 7:40am. Please plan on being at the team tent at 7:20am on fri/sat..

PARKING will be a challenge this year, no way around it, but here are some suggestions.

    • arrive early, it may lengthen your overall day, but will eliminate the anxiety of missing something important.
    • Drop of swimmers/stuff at Team Tent FIRST then go park.
    • if early enough parking along Volunteer Blvd is an option but these spots will go quickly.
    • park at Kingston Pike Building (entrance is to east of tyson park entrance) off of kingston pike.
    • there are more paved parking spots to the rear of the Kingston Pike Bldg this will keep you out of the stones.
    • Ride shuttle to the drop of location at pool.

    SWSR TENT LOCATION

    • SWSR tent located in GRASSY roundabout on PARKING side of the SAC building
    • This is GREAT for Drop off.
    • we are the farthermost tent from the competition pool.  Great for walking.
    • TENT Theme is same as previous years "PEACE" "Hippie"
    • GKAISA is broadcasting meet info on FM 87.8.  bring your RADIOS

SWSR Warm-ups Friday and Saturday is at 7:40am you and your swimmer(s) need to be at the tent no later than 7:20am!!!

    Meet Starts daily at 9:00am

Plan ahead it takes 25 mins from Farragut to UT,  there will be at least 15 min. of traffic around the aquatic center with 2300 swimmers and 4600 parents and at least 2500 vehicles trying to go on one road, drop off and shuttle.

Friday is all day for 11 and ups

Saturday is all day for 10 and unders

Sunday is all day for finalist (top 16)

SWSR City Meet theme is "Hippies".   The tent will be decorated for the theme and we will need pictures of all our HEAT WINNERS with the ribbon.  RAYawesome fun guaranteed in the SWSR tent.

Always error on the side of being early.  Even though the meet is all day that does not mean it goes slow.  They move a lot of swimmers through the Two pools (girls and boys courses) pretty quickly so it would be unfortunate if you miss one of your swimmers event because you thought they had a High event number.

What to bring (parents)..., chair(s), blanket, cooler, drinks, food, sun tan lotion, SHARPIE, and patience with a RAY smile.

What to bring (swimmers)... racing suit, googles, swim cap, (2) towels, t-shirt, shorts, sweatshirt, backpack, games, theme stuff, and RAYSPEED.

Thanks go out to the SWSR specialty workers that signed up.   GKAISA has already thanked me and I in turn thank you for volunteering.  SUNDAY worker assignments will be sent out on Saturday once those returning for finals is confirmed.   Be ready work.

Any questions or uncertainty please call or email and I will be glad to help inform you.  At one point in every SWSR family's history was a first CITY MEET so ask questions.

I have the list of those families that pre-order city meet T-shirts you will receive these by start of swim meet.
