SMI News from Coach Allison
Smokey Mountain Meet starts tomorrow!!! I am extremely excited about this weekend and how well our swimmers are swimming. Especially after such a fantastic meet last night! Everyone is looking great in the water... it's going to be a fun weekend full of fast races.
If you are swimming in one of he first events (IM, Freestyle) you need to be at the pool by 7:30 to warm up with the team. If your first event is not until after the freestyle (Med Relay and Beyond) I am giving you the option to warm up or not. Usually the time gap between warm-ups and the medley relays is too long to make a warm up worth it.. however, it is ALWAYS good to get practice off the blocks as well as a few turns. If you decide not to warm up, you MUST be at the pool by 8:45-9am for the start of the swim meet.
Make sure to bring an back-up pair of goggles, cap, and extra swimsuit if you can. You never know what can happen and its always good to be prepared!
Rest, eat good food and drink WATER both leading up to and during the swim meet. Especially the 10 and under swimmers who will not be swimming until sunday!! No crazy or dangerous activities allowed! Rest your body on Saturday and stay out of the sun as much as possible.
As always, let me know if you have any questions. The SMI website is also a great resource if you are interested in timelines as well as order of events.
GO STINGRAYS!
Coach Allison
