    Leading up to SMI

    Hello, everyone!

I hope this message finds you all very well this morning!

I just have a couple of things I'd like to go over before we get to this weekend.

To start off, I wanna make sure that swimmers are taking care of themselves. The smoky mountain invitational is a championship swim meet. Meaning, we need to do the best we can to stay safe so that we may swim competitively. This means a reduction and elimination of risky behaviors. I would ask that our swimmers cut out sharks and minnows, all pool games which involve physical contact, and any sort of activity outside of the pool that is risky as well, such as skateboarding.

Many older swimmers will start to think about shaving down for a championship swim meet in order to cut down on time. In some cases, I would encourage that your swimmer do so. However, if they haven't ever done it before, I would ask that they come talk to me before doing so. There is actually a wrong way to do it, believe it or not.

For our SMI swimmers, I will be having a separate practice Friday morning at 9 am. There wil still be the normal Fun Friday practice. I ask that you send your SMI swimmer to the 9 o'clock practice instead.

Lastly, we need a bunch more pictures of anyone involved with the swim team, and I mean A LOT more. Please send those in to me as you take them.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. My email is [email protected]

Thanks and let's keep our season going strong!
