Update From Coach Allison 6/15/17
We are already quickly approaching the weekend so I just want to give everyone a reminder for the exciting things happening next week!
To start off I want to thank all the parents and swimmmers who attended the meet on Tuesday. It was a disappointing night with the weather not cooperating and I just wanted to say that those of you who did get to swim, I was extremely proud of your races you all did a fantastic job. The meet will be rescheduled for later in the season (Mr. Carbaugh will announce that date so be on the lookout for that email) however, the races WILL COUNT for the rescheduled meet. The meet will actually be starting on event 24 and you will get your ribbons for your races after we finally finish the meet with Maryville. Again, thanks for waiting through the thunder delays and staying positive throughout the night. I received MANY compliments from the president of MAFD on how impressed he was with our team and how cooperative and helpful everyone was. Keep up the good work! I'm proud to be the head coach of this awesome team.
This Tuesday will be our second dual meet against Bennington Farrington Swim Team. Pray for good weather this week!!! Below is the list of NOT ATTENDING swimmers for the meet. As always, PLEASE please please let me know ASAP if you won't be there. Last minute changes are possible, but they make things much more difficult so if you can let me know by Monday I would really appreciate it. Also, make sure to let me know if your child SHOULDN'T be on this list, as they will not be entered in the swim meet.

During Fun Wednesday this week I had all the 10 and under swimmers write three goals that they had for themselves (anything to do with swimming) on two index cards. One they keep for themselves and one is given to me to keep. If your swimmer wasn't here the day we did this I strongly encourage them to still fill one out! Kids who accomplish their goals will get recognized and rewarded at the end of the year, and this is also a great way for me to know how to help each swimmer accomplish what they want this summer. Just turn the card into me during any practice.
Last announcement: The deadline for City and Smoky Mountain forms is quickly approaching!!!! If you aren't sure if you want to attend these swim meets or not: YOU DO. Smoky Mountain Meet is a fantastic opportunity for summer swimmers to compete with ONLY summer swimmers at a city-wide competition level. It might sound stressful but I promise you, it's not! The meet is a great opportunity for kids to see their hard work pay off and this year we have so many naturally gifted swimmers that are already swimming FAST. Everyone has an opportunity to do really well, and the more people that attend the more relays we can make and the more friends we will have hanging out under the team tent having fun. Parents, I promise it will be worth sacrificing a day out of your weekend to watch your kid have a blast and swim their best!
City Meet is also a great opportunity for success, especially since it is the very last meet of the season and swimmers have had a full summer of practicing to prepare. It is held at the UT pool which is an awesome (indoor) pool to swim in. A great experience for any young (and old!) swimmer to get to race in the same pool as college athletes! City Meet is one of my most favorite times of the year since coaches get to see all the smiling faces of kids who's hard work all summer has paid off. It is a very fast pool and many swimmers get personal best times during this meet. Again, definitely worth sacrificing your weekend to attend!
Let me know if you have any questions about either of these meets, or if you have any questions about anything at all! I am happy to answer.
Go Stingrays!
Coach Allison
