SWSR - season league recap
Sugarwood Stingrays
Well, Well, Well League 2 GKAISA and SMI Champions. If anyone would have shared with me that this year would have ended in two championships, I would have been as surprised then as I feel now. I knew that without a doubt SWSR would be competitive with any of the teams in league 2, but to have back to back undefeated seasons is humbling. It is a testament to the strength of the families, swimmers and coaches of the stingray nation. It is also confirmation in the annual Stingray FUN Experience. The experience only last 60 days each summer. This upcoming week is all about preparing for city meet and then on Tuesday 6/28/15 the year end party puts a bow tie on the 2015 season. I hope your family is able to do one or both of these last two events. Please note that the GKAISA league 2 championship trophy will be handed out to SWSR at the conclusion of city meet on Sunday 7/26/15 around 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm. If you are in town and even if your swimmer(s) did not participate in city meet, please come to the UT aquatic center to be apart of the receiving and celebrating the league 2 championship trophy. It takes every 5 year old to 18 year old on the 2015 team to achieve a championship like this years, so please come and allow your swimmer(s) to enjoy the moment. Also traditionally after city meet finals SWSR goes to the Worlds Fair Park fountains to kick back and relax after a long weekend.
As a final recap of the 2015 season how do I thank 158 swimmers, 170 parents, and 5 coaches individually. This email is to you for all that you did to make such a FUN experience for the 2015 season. I have the privilege of watching everyone do their thing during the season and one of the greatest Joys I get each season is when I see families serving beside other families. Summer swim team is such a family sport that requires everyone (parents/swimmers) participation, because there are so many positions to fill each summer. Seeing families watch other families swimmers as the parent fills their shift responsibility or families assisting other families when there is a health issue or when a call goes out that there is a need during a swim meet so 5 or 6 individuals show up are just three immediate situations that come to mind and puts a smile on my face. Its all about the Relationships that are forged in just a 60 day window of time. That is the Stingray Nation Summer Experience. So thank you, thank you, thank you for investing your time, money, swimmer(s) and patience. As SWSR moves into league one next year their is one thing I am extremely confident about and that is for the teams that swim in the RAY pool next year they will get to experience how FUN summer swimming and swim meets should be. This is one of the greatest assets the Stingray Nation will continue to have no matter what League SWSR swims in each year. Lets finish strong and look forward to doing it all again in 2016.
